When someone you know dies, it’s normal to want to say a final farewell to them at their funeral. But what if you can’t attend, how do you mourn your loss in a meaningful way?
There are a few things you could do to ease your process. You can find out the date and time of the funeral and create space in your day to have a quiet time to remember and honour the person. Perhaps lighting a candle or listening to a piece of music which is associated to the person who has died might add something meaningful to this time. You could contact the funeral director and ask if a copy of the order of Service could be sent to you by email so that you can feel closer to what is going on. Sending flowers is also done, though be sure to check that flowers are welcome. Setting up a special place in your home, with a picture and a candle to light to help draw your focus into the moment.
