A funeral ceremony is often held at the crematorium or in church. But the crematorium can feel pressurised for time, so it is worth thinking about alternative venues. A funeral can be held in a community hall, in a hotel or function room, at home, outside, in a yurt or marquee, in fact anywhere with the owner’s permission.
We have a beautiful riverside ceremony hall near Buckfastleigh for up to 50-70 people. It is a stone barn, light and airy open up to the eaves, with a wood
burner. You can decorate it however you like with photos, pictures, materials, motifs hung from the rafters. It has an excellent music system, lots of free parking, easy access. But most of all is the reaction of so many people when they first walk into it, commenting on the special, peaceful and sacred atmosphere of the room. You can have unlimited time and hold the gathering after there as well. You can even put up a small marquee on the area immediately outside for extra space. Please call us and arrange to come and see it, whether you are looking for somewhere now or planning in advance.
